OUR HERITAGE & HISTORY
No Drama Media was born in 2006 out of the fact that there was no decent search engine marketing events in Australia for marketers wanting to educate themselves on how to do search engine marketing effectively, industry education has long been a soap box issue of Founder Barry Smyth and our search marketing events reflect the passion we have for educating marketers.
The first educationally based event we put together was back in September 2006 under our Search Engine Boot-Camp brand, Boot-Camp continues to this day and over the last few years has grown to include other online marketing disciplines such as Social Media, Email Marketing and Mobile Marketing.
Off the back of Search Engine Boot-Camp’s success we decided to offer a more advanced style of event, mirroring the successful models used in the US, this led to the development of Search Marketing Summit.
With 2016 ushering in No Drama Media's tenth year of educating marketers on the fine arts of search engine marketing we felt that a change had to occur.
Search Marketing Summit, a concept that we started working on 2006, was the our original branding of our multi stream/multi day conference targeted at the Australian & New Zealand search marketing community, it set the standard for search marketing conference content here in Australia with sessions specifically built for marketers with an interest in more intermediate to advanced search marketing conferences here in Australia, the conference also complimented our Search Engine Boot-Camp event that was targeted at entry marketers.
In 2007 our Keynote Speaker was Chris Sherman, having Chris at the event indirectly led to us joining forces with Third Door Media in a licensing agreement to rebrand Search Marketing Summit to SMX Sydney – Search Marketing Expo in Australia.
Whilst we enjoyed our long relationship with TDM & SMX we decided that SMX Sydney 2015 would mark the end of our licensing agreement for the Search Marketing Expo brand as we seek to recapture our unique Australian brand and identity with Search Marketing Summit, 2016 see’s us in our tenth year of educating marketers on the fine arts of search engine marketing.
From a content, delegate and exhibiting perspective nothing will change, as we are still catering towards search marketing professionals and in house marketers that work within search every day and Barry Smyth will still be responsible for conference programming and speaker selection.
